Transition Town Kingston a community-based movement with a practical approach to preparing for a low-carbon future. For the last couple of years, TTK have been exploring ways of increasing energy efficiency and using renewable energy in the Royal Borough of Kingston. Kingston Community Energy is aligned with the aims of the Transition movement.
The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames strives to give people more involvement and control of the services they use and the places where they live by putting council resources in their hands. Kingston Community Energy will see residents generating their own energy and reducing carbon emissions realising Kingston Council’s ambition to 'tackle climate change and reduce our ecological footprint'.
Carbon Leapfrog are a unique business-led charity that galvanises and channels high-value, professional advice from leading service providers across a range of disciplines including legal, finance, marketing and consultancy into UK and international carbon reduction projects – for free.
From the Ground Up is Kingston's own weekly organic veg and fruit food scheme that brings local affordable fresh organic food to the Royal Borough of Kingston.
KUTLETS (Kingston Upon Thames Local Exchange Trading System) is a
community-based barter system. Members pool their skills and resources to form a local network, which allows them to trade goods and services without using money. Instead of using pounds and pence, KUTLETS has its own 'currency' called 'Beaks'. |
